This is for you, Jake

Charlotte has started cooing, smiling and laughing a lot. Even the pediatrician commented on how talkative she is. She normally has a lot to say when I put her on the changing table, but of course, as soon as I got out the camera she was more interested in just staring at it. Here is a little taste of her personality though...

Sam and Charlotte

So far, Sam and Charlotte's relationship seems to be one of mutual fascination. She could spend hours (well, minutes..but that is a long time in her world) staring at him and he loves playing with her, picking out her clothes, "helping" with diaper changes, etc. In fact, the only time Charlotte does not scream in the car is when Sam is in the back seat with her. Whenever I look in the rearview mirror they are just staring at each other. Now whenever I ask him what they are doing back there, he says "We're just having a staring contest." Unfortunately, Sam is going through an "I hate pictures" phase so we haven't actually gotten many photos of them together. Here are a couple...

This is the first picture I was able to get of them together. I had to wait until he was distracted by the TV.
First bath together

A few days ago Sam was playing in Charlotte's room while I was feeding her. She barely ate because she kept arching back to see what he was doing. I said to Sam: "What do you think this silly baby is trying to do?" Sam's response: "Yoga, I think."

One Month Old!

Charlotte turned one month on August 10. You can't tell in this picture, but she has lost all the hair on top of her head. My Dad called it her "George Costanza" look.

Of course Sam did not want to be left out so he tried on the birthday princess hat too. I'm sure he'll be mortified one day to learn that I posted this online.

Month One: Settling in at Home

Charlotte is doing really well and we are slowly settling into a routine. She loves to eat and sleep :) She has gained two pounds in her first month of life and has even slept for 8 hours on two separate nights! Some of the highlights...

One of her favorite places to sleep

Getting ready for her first trip to the beach. Unfortunately, it did not last long because it started to rain.

She loves bathtime!
